Former NY Lt. Gov, Others, Call For Rep Weiner To Resign

June 7, 2011

Republican National Committee Chairman Rience Priebus has called for Rep. Anthony Weiner (D) to resign. Now, former NY Lt. Governor and Republican Betsy McCaughey has done the same, pointing out Weiner's long history of treating women like just so much meat.

Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-Brooklyn, Queens) owes it to the people of New York to resign. Clinging to his office until his fingernails turned white, Weiner held a press conference on Monday and confessed to making a mistake.

This was his latest attempt to silence a week of speculation about a photograph of his crotch that made its way to a Seattle coed via Weiner’s Twitter account. First he claimed his account had been hacked; on Monday he admitted that he took and sent the lewd crotch shot himself.

Obviously, marriage has not changed that pattern of Weiner's. But where are the prominent Democrats? Do they really believe the American people care about, or have any confidence in, some too long and drawn out ethics investigation? If so, they are clueless, or unsympathetic to critical values most Americans beyond our elitist chattering class hold. For the pundits, everything comes down to calculation and politics.

In the first place, given his recent gross obfuscations, there is absolutely no reason to believe Rep. Weiner is telling the whole truth, now. He did not come forward, to whatever extent he now may have, out of honor, or duty, or a conscience of some kind. He came forward only because he was caught, trapped by revelations thanks to new media in the form of Breitbart's Big Government site.

America has no idea what lies to which he may still be clinging, simply because he hasn't yet been caught in them. Furthermore, based upon documented accounts of just two of the women he used his official position to troll up online, we can have some confidence that he lied in the very press conference he attempted to exploit to save his job. There is solid evidence that he used his office and its phone and computer access to indulge his personal and unseemly pursuits. Yet, he looked the cameras right in the eye during his press conference and denied that very thing.

His passion for sending inappropriate images of himself around to whomever, including his erect penis, left him wide open to blackmail, or undue and inappropriate influence while holding elected office for years. And all he can offer now is, it was a mistake? That the image sent to the co-ed that started all this was "a joke?" Hardly. One would have to be crazy to believe that, or anything Rep Weiner says now, in his pathetic defense.

With Rep. Weiner's honesty and judgement still subject to so much valid and serious doubt, he is unfit to serve in the United States Congress by any reasonable objective standard. Yet, some of the same Democrat forces that helped to make him are now going to stand by and allow this charade to continue? If so, then his political party, not just some few friends he has left, should be held to account and made to own every despicable act which this man undertook while in thier fold. In fact, I doubt whether some of them haven't known of it all along.

Politicians are fond of asking, why is it the American people don't like, or trust us? That so many of them, in both parties, but especially the Democrats, are willing to turn a blind eye, while rambling on about some potential ethics investigation in this case, provides all the answer they should ever require in that regard.

Rep. Anthony Weiner is a disgrace and a Washington that continues to embrace him now only further disgraces itself by doing so. Shame on him – and the rest of them, at this point.

“A staunch advocate of conservative platforms from abstinence-only education to a Constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, the Republican Louisiana Senator apparently had no problem with high-class call girls because his phone number was revealed to be part of a list of a company owned by the infamous “D.C. Madam.” Larry Flynt’s Hustler Magazine found the phone number and contacted Vitter’s office to inquire about it. The next day he issued a public apology for his “very serious sin,” and managed to retain his seat in the U.S. Senate.”
i wouldn’t vote for vitter, and would ‘primary’ the guy in a heart beat, but to compare weiner’s beahvior to vitter’s suggest a level of denial consistent with ‘do as i say, not as i do’.
seriously terry, you are obsessed with the vitter scandal, and your percieved miscarriage of justice. how do you seperate the two cases?
for the record, how long did vitter deny, obfuscate, and defend his mistakes?
i missed the press intervies in his office, along with the righteous indignation of a ‘wronged weiner’.
    perfect world for me?
    vitter goes, and weiner stays.
sounds like a perfect world for terry, as well.

It’s amazing that you can type that sentence without your face exploding, especially given the article you cited, and the text you specifically isolated. I don’t know how you guys do it.

  7. mark l. says:

so let me get this straight…
in your world usa american, weiner stays, and vitter goes?
    my world doesn’t discriminate.
oh, and the reason that vitter was retained?
despite what the lib sites tell you, the dems seem to have an inordinate amount of blame for katrina, within the state of louisiana.
fair or not, that’s the way it is…

  8. itsMike2Cents says:

“for the record, how long did vitter deny, obfuscate, and defend his mistakes?”
I think it was 7 years, right?
As Charlie Rich said, no one knows what goes on behind closed doors.
And I’d offer that both Vitter and Weiner had their doors closed.
    But Weiner’s wasn’t locked, so…

  9. mark l. says:

    any chance usa,
that you have video link where vitter apologizes for misleading the press, and smearing the messenger?
too bad you didn’t get photos of vitter in diapers…
seems a pic is worth a thousand words.
there is an ‘atomic bomb’ of a pic out there, capturing weiner’s moment of joy. dude didn’t just step in it, he rolled in it.
ny has to redistrict anyways, to account for a reduction in population…going from 29 to 27. ditto for jersey, 13 to 12.
combine abortion with draconian tax rates, and you get the feeling that the loss of seats in these two blues is not even the end of the beginning.

  10. mark l. says:

“…despite what the lib sites tell you, the dems seem to have an inordinate amount of blame for katrina, within the state of louisiana.”
david vitter 56.6, to dems 37.7, in 2010.
didn’t it use to be blanco governor, and landreau, breaux, as senators?
john breaux was a good guy, like evan bayh in indiana. your own party killed these type of candidates off…
don’t cry to me about louisiana.

speaking of ‘war records’, any chance we can get biden to do a weekend show on libya?
seeing that he has the same number of draft deferments as the previous veep, i imagine i’d be tivo-ing that appearance.
let me know when you guys are going to have a war rally, or, even a war resolution. i’ll bring alibyan flag, and we can all burn it together.
they are a rather “imminent” threat…not.

  14. itsMike2Cents says:

  15. mark l. says:

sorry mike, the migration that you are seeing is of the people ‘who can afford to migrate’. the poor schlubs who remain just have to pay more money to make up the difference.
i’m going with the belief that the ny dems believe that despite their population falling, they need to increase the size and scope of the state govt. good luck…
and, while i am wishing luck:
gates is out, pretty soon. the replacment gets a confirmation hearing…
at this hearing, he will have to defend the current libyan ops, while also committing to NOT sending ground troops, which is not the outcome the europeans(or the messiah) want.

  16. mike191 says:

To most Dems ,it is the party that matters not character. When Chris Lee tried to get his “freak on”via shirtless photos and craigslist sexual fantasy: {a} He was using the peoples office and time to betray his wife and not do his job.{b} Most people in N.Y.26 were aghast that the person they elected were duped by his lack of honesty and character.{c} This past election, for Mr. Lees seat, saw a bungled attempt By Corwins people to way lay Jack Davis and many people were not going to vote for any person lacking character.{D} Hochul won because she did not have honesty issues and was well liked by most people in her role as Erie county Clerk conjoined with a lack of turnout by Republicans turned off by a Chris Lee Lite.
The people of Mr. Weiners district will weigh Weiners approach to Women, adult and minor, his lack of character, his pain to his wife and to the people he represents while being on the Congressional clock, and his propensity to lie when it suits him,ad nauseum and make a choice like those who voted in N.Y. 26.
To people like Barfo, Usa American:”..I would vote for Weiner because he sticks it to teabellies/Republicans..”The party trumps character is all that matters.I predict that Mr. Weiner will have a hard time staying in office and that most people in his district will note vote for Mr. Weiner.

  17. SacTownMan says:

mike191, the only problem is the voters in NY re-elected the tax cheating, criminal Rangle without any reservation. Why expect Weiner boy to be any different?
The trolls have no sense of morality and will blindly pull the lever for the party regardless of the outcome!

  18. itsMike2Cents says:

    SacTownMan –
I’d question the morality of someone who pulls the lever for someone based on some certainty that that person is without personal failings.
A better calculus might be the actual policies advocated by said candidate – and the voter’s confidence in his abilities to legislate effectively for them.
But hey, I’m not wearing the same priestly collar some of you are…

  19. Ragspierre says:

Truth is, mikey loves liars, just like he loves a lie.
Not hard to understand at all.

  20. Ragspierre says:

“A better calculus might be the actual policies advocated by said candidate – and the voter’s confidence in his abilities to legislate effectively for them.”
    That is TOOOOOOOooooooo funny…!!!
The guy is a KNOWN perv, who now has a video-taped HISTORY of lying to you with a straight face (well, as straight as Weiner’s face could be), and attacking his TRUTHFUL accusers…
In addition to colorable multiple violations of the law.
Which makes him a model Collectivist.

  21. itsMike2Cents says:

“and the voter’s confidence in his abilities to legislate effectively for them”
And at this point one might might not feel Weiner wouldn’t be effective.

  22. SacTownMan says:

My problem Mike is how easily someone can throw away their basic core moral values and vote for someone as sleezy as the Weiner boy. He is not worthy of the office and is just another career politician that got caught with his pants down.
I don’t throw away my core moral values at the poll. Morality isn’t something that you can turn off and on at will. You either have those basic beliefs or you don’t. In this life what else do you have except your word and honor. This isn’t about politics, it’s about right and wrong!

  23. Charles says:

The best outcome for the Dems would be for Weiner to disappear. So, I hope he does NOT resign. The shame of this situation will linger for years, perhaps forever, and will be the more intense the longer he is visible. Weiner will, if he stays in the House, be a heavy albatross around the necks of Pelosi and her ilk. Plus, there will be a lot of laughs!!
So, Tony, Hang Tough!! Don’t let the S.O.B.’s run you out of town on a rail!! We’re behind you!

  24. Ricky says:

IMHO, if Tony stays, voters get used to people like him, and his behavior become acceptable to voters. The more depraved Dem politicians are, the bigger heros they become to the mentaly deformed liberal voters.
The only solution for this country is to round up the libs and lock them away in a mental institutions or something… send them to Europe or Cuba or Canada…

  25. they are willing to turn a blind eye, while rambling on about some potential ethics investigation in this case, provides all the answer they should ever require in that regard.

  26. Ricky says:

This landed a poster here at RWV in trouble the other time… but I’m going to take the risk…:
Be wary of conservatives who botox.

  27. Me says:

When vitter called the cops on that journalist asking questions……”oh ……never mind.

  28. Ragspierre says:
    “Lying is unforegivable”.
Well, unless you Ball-less Bill Clinton. Then you have an entire political party that screens for you.
It is all about power for Collectivists.

  29. Ragspierre says:

He is the epitome of the Democrat culture of corruption, the Democrat culture of erection. He is wrong on policy. He is an admitted liar. He used his office in Congress to conduct his lurid e-perversions. The guy’s got it all, and I wholeheartedly endorse the fact that’s not going to resign. He and his wife have been married less than a year, he said they’ve been through a lot together, in less than a year. Tony Weiner is the Democrat Party writ small. We want Weiner to stand firm here and not quit. I’m just speaking for myself. I do. I want him to hang in there and be tough ’cause he’s a perfect, perfect poster boy. I mean look at the guy who married ‘em, Bill Clinton, (imitating Clinton) “Hey, I never had sex with that woman, not a single time, and I never asked anybody to lie, ever.” Weiner hasn’t learned a whole lot. Well, I don’t know how hard it is for Weiner to stand up to all this or not. I don’t know.
    –Rush Limbaugh
But, if Weiner’s wife learned from Hiliary, she will lay down for anything Weiner does in pursuit of her own power.

  30. Terry says:

The bloated hillbilly heroin enthusiast is laughable. This is the same guy who has been married 4 times and travels to the DR with 29 Viagras. Keep talking fat boy, the unemployed rubes with AM radios are listening!

  31. Ragspierre says:

Man, you can feel the hate, can’tcha. And the LIES…!!! So much FUN…Collectivists defend the indefensible by attacking with LIES.
    Terry is a Weiner.

  32. Collectivists love them some sexual predators when they promise them the right things. Weiner, Clinton, Teddy the Lion…
