Ron Paul Balked On Cutting $100 Million From PBS Funding

January 3, 2012

Interesting, from an email tip. In 2005, the GOP fought to get a Bill to the floor that would have cut $100 million from PBS. It passed. But it was amended.

Amends: H.R.3010 Sponsor: Rep Obey, David R. [WI-7] (offered 6/23/2005) AMENDMENT DESCRIPTION: Amendment restores $100 million for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

Sure enough, per the roll call, Ron Paul was one of only 87 Republicans to vote for the amendment to effectively restore the $100 million. All the Democrats voted for it, 140 Republicans voted against.

I don’t care HOW you cut it, Ron Paul is as far from Conservative as it gets… He is the very definition of RINO…

  2. Ragspierre says:

I have to disagree slightly, TF.
Paul has a rep for dancing on the knife’s edge. He is a “conservative” at election time.
He also has a rep in House leadership circles over the years as someone who will stab you in the back…after assuring you he is solid.
But, all else aside, the man is a fruitcake…heavy on the nuts.
But the RINO thing…it was MADE for Paul.

That sort of undercuts the only thing I ever liked about Ron Paul. Still, Odd Uncle Paul is dangerous.

President Obama tried to steal a piece of the Iowa spotlight tonight with a nostalgia-filled live address to his Democratic supporters over the internet, at times hampered by static and sporadic audio interruptions that made him difficult to understand.
But the technical glitches from Obama’s exclusive web tool couldn’t mask his rallying cry to the people who first helped propel him to the presidency four years ago.
He looked pathetic, weak, and totally like the narcissist he is.
    Obama made it worse.

  12. Ragspierre says:

President Obama is under strong pressure from liberals to use his recess-appointment power during the congressional break, but doing so would break 20 years of precedent, putting him in a tough position.
Using this recess to appoint Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, as liberals have urged, would also contradict a brief issued by the Clinton Justice Department in 1993, which Obama’s own deputy solicitor general cited last year.
Obama could announce a decision as soon as Wednesday.
