Update: Trayvon “Slimm” Martin’s Facebook Page

March 25, 2012

Update: I've updated with a second message below I had left out. It appears an individual asked Trayvon who he fought with on November 26. There was no response and, again, that doesn't demonstrate a history of fighting. Teachers have claimed any behavior issues were not of a violent nature.

Via email, this appears to be Trayvon Martin's Facebook account. Sadly, February 5th seems to have been his birthday. Many well wishers left him notes in that regard. Among them, one friend left the following message claiming to have business with Martin regarding a known slang word for marijuana. "Yet another word that means "marijuana"'. Some may interpret that as Martin having somehow been involved in selling the drug.

That might be quite a leap from only one message and the loose way young people use language. Elsewhere in the messages, a girl complains about being blamed for his phone. If it had been broken or lost, that might explain Martin saying he didn't have one at the time. While I've only looked at the shooting death of Martin today, Tom Maguire at Just One Minute blog has been looking at the case in depth for some time.

  1. Very professional of you to say he ‘may’ have been dealing
But how many of your friends ever contacted you with ‘damn, I need a plant’ lol

  2. jummy says:

Trying to follow the logic here: his friend was trying to score score some weed from him, therefor his murder was actually self defense.

    • tyler says:

yall screaming self defense but if u really pay attention to the video u would have heard the 911 responder to tell that white races trash to stay away from him. He approached Trayvon, not the other way aroung. Yall just don’t want to see that white trash in jail.

      • Stacy says:

        He’s not white. He’s Hispanic. It’s a 911 dispatcher, not responder.

      • ja'mal says:

Ya brutha u tell it! fuk dem wite ass rasist crakas! we be doin just find in R hoods B4 day fukked us wit dis shit! day B ignorent n shit thinkin we killin r selfs wen day doin dis shit. fuk dem!!!!! n fuk u Stacy says!

        • Stacy says:

Where did I say f u? I just corrected two of his mistakes. So get it straight. You want to say “racist” take a look in the mirror!!! You are obviously a RACIST. On here calling all white people “crackers”. You want racism to stop, then stop being a racist too. I’m sick of working in places where you feel you have the right to call me a cracker and I’m not supposed to say shit back, because if I do then I’m a racist, but your not?!?! Get a life!

        • Realist says:

With a vocabulary like yours there is little doubt you will be our next rocket scientist.

  3. Ragspierre says:

Jimmy, you are excused from anything with “logic” attached.
You have already decided the case was “murder”, showing you do not live in the world of logic.

  4. jummy says:

you’re right. the book is still open on this one. martin was carrying skittles after all. who knows what might have happened…(

  5. Ragspierre says:

Ah, yes, the by now worn out Skittles Fallacy bullshit.
See, jummy, you just can’t deal with logic. Step back away from the keyboard.

  6. jummy says:

so you’re saying he was armed with a lethal weapon?

  7. Ragspierre says:

Yeah, jummy, you can see where I say that up there…amid the vapors where you read things that are not there.
And think thoughts that are not rational….

  8. jummy says:

if you don’t suppose he was armed, what is fallacious in noting that he was shot by zimmerman while unarmed?

  9. Ragspierre says:

Now you introduce NEW stuff, jummy.
    I don’t “suppose” anything.
It is fallacious to “note” any damn thing here, since you don’t know WTF you are talking about (having no personal knowledge of the matter).

  10. jummy says:

so there is no information at all. if a tree falls in the woods, and we were not there to observe it, it affirmatively does not make a sound.
i gotta admit that i misjudged you. you’re engaging this on a much higher level than i’m capable; the level of sophomore dormroom post-structuralist horseshit.

  11. Ragspierre says:

Annnnndddd…we watch jummy’s wagon wheels spin off in random directions as he loses what was left of his “mind”.

  12. Live Free Or Die says:

Haven’t seen a link to Trayvon ‘Slimm’ Martin’s Homegoing/Memorial Service photo, so, they have on at

  13. Lil Old Me says:

I think the page got shut down. I found it myself earlier this morning, but now it says “Page cannot be found”. I even looked up the other people who were listed on the screencap, and Trayvon has disappeared from their friends list. Anyone else having trouble??
And yeah… he definitely smoked marajuana… apparently frequently. Found posts on the page where some guy even reminisced about how every time they smoked together, Trayvon would say, “I be good”.
Not saying he deserved to die… but he’s not the angel everyone makes him out to be.

  14. Randy says:

All of this is irrelevant, even if someone was trying to “score” marijuana from him in early February. 1. He may just have been the friend of a friend. This is common for teenagers. 2. When he was shot by Zimmerman he was visiting his father and his fiancee. So unless Trayvon was a traveling dealer(which the fact that no marijuana was found on him disproves) this is all just pointless speculation and the smearing of an innocent young man. And why post a message asking who he fought in November? I see no purpose in this article. I am not making Trayvon out to be an angel, but a normal human being who was shot and obviously is not here to tell his side of the story.

  15. william says:

Perfectly stated Randy. This is pointless. You’re only objective is to point out he wasn’t perfect, who the hell is. A young man lost his life because Zimmerman found him suspicious(AND PROCEEDED TO FOLLOWED HIM), not because he was walking down the street smoking weed or fighting on the street that day, but because he had a hoodie on. So all of the “evidence” you’re pointing out is mean spirited and unnecessary.

  16. Jess says:

Im pretty sure 75% of high schoolers have smoked pot. Ecstasy is worse and kills more people than marijuana has (which is none, btw), yet kids in high school these days do that for fun. Id rather have my kid smoking weed than trippin balls. Ps I bet Zimmermans smoked weed in highschool, perhaps I should go shoot him now……..one can dream.

  17. Denise says:

Unfortunately Jess, marijuana killed my 5 day old granddaughter, so your statement is not exactly accurate. This whole incident is a tradgedy, that has effected two families, and thanks to our press, our nation as a whole. I find our press dispicable posting inaccurate photos and race baiting for headlines. They should have left it alone until all evidence was presented to the Grand Jury on April 10, but hey headlines are more important than national security any day.

  18. ashley says:

whether or not Travon smoked weed or not is irrelevant! He was murdered by a coward who is afraid of anyone that does not look like him. His murder was senseless and done without reason. you really need to find a hobby and stop with this bullshit journalism that your putting out.

  19. Yael says:

What does this have to do with the fact that he was murdered? Nice little smear. Honestly I don’t know what your agenda is but I guess it’s somehow trying to justify the Murder. If so you should be ashamed of yourself. No, seriously.

  20. Myth Debunker says:

Saying weed killed anyone, much less a 5 day old is inaccurate and shifting the blame.

  21. Mark says:

You should be ashamed for this half-assed attempt at journalism. It’s not up to you to decide who Martin was. It’s up to you to question the fact that there wasn’t a proper investigation into what happened, and a potential murderer may walk away free. All you do is convince people that a clear-cut, factual assessment is actually a divisive issue. The only facts with which you or the public should be concerned are that this case further destroys our country’s definition of justice.

  22. Dee says:

Seems to be a lot of demonizing going around these days. If you had only read the headlines and listen to the biased talking heads on TV, you would believe that Zimmerman is a racist who committed a hate crime, and that Trayvon was a fine upstanding member of the community just two days ago. Why? Al Sharpton was painting a picture for you to see, that was not the whole story. No fact was used, but rather a media blitz was used to paint this picture with unsubstantiated circumstances and interviews with people who pushed hearsay and reversed engineered conclusions.
What is the new picture that is developing, now that the particulars of the case are starting to be investigated? Zimmerman isn’t a racist. His black friends have vouched for him. Zimmerman’s account of the incident was deemed probable after 2 hours of interrogation at the police station (where he was refused medical help for obvious injuries that further corroborated his account). Witnesses at the scene of the incident corroborated his account. The earlier used pictures of Trayvon from 3 years ago showing him as a wholesome football player have been replaced with recent pictures of tattoos and gold teeth. He has a history of behavior that was strong enough for suspension from school. Now we are shown Facebook posts suggesting violence and drug dealing.
Are people demonizing Trayvon, or painting an accurate picture of the young man, as he was the day he was killed? Right now, I don’t know. I want to know the fact, not the editorialized versions spoon fed to us by special interest groups and the media. I am in no way suggesting this young man’s life should have ended in this way. I am only suggesting you have to see the reality of the situation, not the situation that hate mongers like Al Sharpton want you to see. Let the prosecution review the evidence and charge Zimmerman appropriately based on what they find. Yes, that may mean you have to accept this was a case of self-defense and murder charges are not on the table. Other charges may stem from the overall legality of the situation though. Let the State of Florida do their job, without being pressured by an ill-informed public to do something that goes against Mr. Zimmerman’s rights. Yes, has them too.

  23. Niki says:

No human being on this earth is perfect, so to paint Trayvon or Zimmerman as a perfect human being is absurd. Bringing up the past acts of both Trayvon and Zimmerman are irrelevant. What is relevant is what took place at that moment when a life was taken away! Let’s talk about the facts that occured that day and not past assumptions that are irrelevant to this tragedy. Assuming things is how a life was lost that day.
My question is when did minding your own business result to losing a life? Yes, he may have been walking the neighborhood browsing at houses as he strolled by. He may have even stopped to stand on the corner as he talked on the phone. But in doing these things, was he harming or threatening anyone, or even an animal, in any way? The statement was that he looked suspicious (the words out of Zimmerman’s mouth). Not once did Zimmerman say he was harming anything or anyone, but that he “looked suspicious and up to no good”. He wasn’t throwing things at anyone, yelling at anyone, vandalizing anything….”he just looked suspicious”. Looking suspicious and actually being in the act of suspicious behavior are absolutely different matters. And in this case, not a reason to lose a life!!

  24. zoom says:

why are these things relevant? Whatever the truth about Trayvon Martin’s supposed drug dealing (the evidence is scant at best), Zimmerman clearly was not aware of it when he approached Martin and thus it could not have affected his state of mind. You are diverting attention from what is really in issue, which is what actually transpired between the two before Zimmerman shot Martin.

  25. Adrian says:

Gee-Golly-Gosh, he may have smoked the dope! This explains his character and morals perfectly: not a teenaged boy, doing teenaged things, but a sinning junkie besot by the effects of THE DEVIL’S WEED!

  26. DK says:

Riehl You GIVE NEW MEANING TO THE TERM DOUCHE BAG!! How disgusting!!

  27. Jet says:

I can not believe people are actual using his face book as factual. I check my sisters face book and she lies and exaggerates all the time. And shes a adult . LOL So if you think a kid is not going to say stuff to make himself look like a big shot to the world your mistaken. I bet most people lie on face book. Unbelievable!

  28. cynthia says:

he didnt do any thing wrong just because a boy post on his facebook something about weed dose not mean hes a horrabel kid or a bad person but everyone makes mistakes

  29. na says:

fwiw, he did say he was ACTING suspicious… wandering.. in the dark, supposedly jumped the fence. When you dress like a gang banger, walk like a gang banger, talk like a gang banger, don’t be surprised when you are mistaken for the gang banger you wanna be.
Stereo types exist because people fill them.
It doesn’t matter if Zimmerman followed Trayvon. That is not illegal. It doesn’t matter if he tried to follow him while he was carrying a concealed weapon, again, that is perfectly legal. What does matter is that apparently Trayvon fought with Zimmerman, and started beating his head against the concrete. This went on for more then 40 seconds… you can hear Zimmerman screaming as he is sounds to be getting the crap beat out of him for 40 seconds by a 17yr old that is bigger and stronger than he is … and when someone his beating your head against the concrete and you feel your life is in jeopardy you have 100% legal right in Florida to respond with deadly force.
Moral of the story: Wear a belt.
