I thought Republicans generally believed that celebrity opinions are irrelevant because of their celebrity status, or some such? What makes Dirty Harry’s opinion relevant when other celebrities like George Clooney, Barbara Streisand’s or Sarah Palin’s are not? Is Eastwood “one of the good ones”?

    • DougYNDOT says:

True…but the point is to sway some “independents” and perhaps some Democrats (who do get tingles from celebrities) to the Republican side.

Besides…Dirty Harry beats Clooney every time.

I don’t think Repubs believe celebrity opinions are irrelevant! I do however believe that the “Hollywood Lifestyle” is definitely PRO-Liberal. Bed hopping, drugs, alcohol, and nudity are prevalent in Hollywood and that is pretty much something is not a part of the Republican party’s things to do. Although we do have a few more liberal leaning reps-it just not endorsed by most Reps. Marriage between 1 man 1 woman, anti-abortion with exception of rape, incest, and mother’s life-those are the values upheld by the Republican party. Clint is a Republican-but he has endorsed a Democrat in the past. I think Clint is more For the Person but not so much For the Party as much as lining up with his personal beliefs. If you’ve watched Mrs. Eastwood and Co……Dina is also a more conservative leaning parent which is NOT the Hollywood norm.

The unusual part of Vlint Eastwood’s celebrity status is that he was also an elected official. There have been other former/current mayors and governors who have spoken.
