I was going do this piece about the fake republicans in the latest Dem ads that Powerline pointed to or perhaps the Obama for America coordinator claiming to be part of “Republicans for Obama” But then I saw this post at Nice Deb and found it much more significant. Prelude to a Shellacking

Hysteria creeps into campaigns when the campaigns know they are losing … Nice Deb notes this and expects worse: That’s the reason we can expect even more desperate, hysterical, hyper partisan mudslinging and dirty tricks from Obama and his cronies from now until election day – they can’t lose.

The better question may be, who else? In a year in which Democrats are struggling just to get the party faithful and elected politicians to their national convention, trade unions are balking at ponying up extra money, and Obama has seen his 2008 fund raising advantage wiped out, a ticket shake up now would only serve to demonstrate more Obama weakness.
It’s highly doubtful that the ego-driven “messiah” of 2008 would now want to be portrayed as the failed and struggling POTUS running for re-election who can’t even win 2012 on his own. Besides, what smart, up and coming Democrat would risk going down to defeat with Obama in 2012, after he won with Biden in 2008, only to have a national embarrassment like Joe Biden say, I told you so? Most likely, none.
Yet, at the same time, across the greater right and among Republicans, it appears as though some have a sort of Stockholm syndrome. The right would do well to re-assess reality around Biden. Obama isn’t “sticking” with Biden, he’s “stuck” with him, a fact that can only help to further demoralize an already nervous Democrat Party. Nationally, plenty of Democrats aren’t only hiding from Obama, they’re running away from him.
The mid-term elections of 2012 went overwhelmingly for Republicans. Scott Walker didn’t just win a much contested recall election in a blue state, he romped to victory and blue Wisconsin is now seen as a real toss up state. Yet, many a Republican and conservative seems hesitant, almost frightened somehow of going against Obama again in November.
Appropriate, or not, it seems fitting to quote a, for better or worse, far more accomplished Democrat than Barack Obama, Franklin D. Roosevelt, “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”
Obama being stuck with a disaster waiting to happen,shouldn’t be a puzzle, or considered a show of strength by Obama. It’s just one more sign of the Democrats weakness they’re stuck with as we move forward toward November. It’s past time for Republicans to put hesitancy and fear aside and go out and win this thing.
It may not be quite the same as winning one for “the Gipper.” But winning for Romney/Ryan in 2012 would be a tremedous thing for America, especially as the alternative is a leftist like Barack Obama back for a second term in the White House with no future political considerations preventing him from implementing the disastrous change he has brought and seeks to bring more of for America.
