h/t Instapundit for an Ed Morrissey item at Hot Air on today’s Paul Ryan “factchecking” by the media. The liberal’s knives are out big time for Ryan today. That tells you how effective his speech was last night. I linked two items – here and here – in that regard.
George Washington didn’t say, “I cannot tell a lie.” It was a myth that became reality for a time. Orwell didn’t invent what the media is up to today. He didn’t even perfect it. A mostly liberal establishment press almost did, … then new media came along.
RYAN: Said Obama misled people in Ryan’s hometown of Janesville, Wis., by making them think a General Motors plant there threatened with closure could be saved. “A lot of guys I went to high school with worked at that GM plant. Right there at that plant, candidate Obama said: `I believe that if our government is there to support you … this plant will be here for another hundred years.’ That’s what he said in 2008. Well, as it turned out, that plant didn’t last another year.”
I considered posting at length on this; however, it hasn’t bothered me as much as it may have some. Vice Presidents do not win, or lose elections. Joe Biden, anyone? So, for now, I’ve been content to let the media flail away, as it’s ultimately much ado about nothing in the grand scheme. Tonight is when the real fun begins.

Verifiable facts:
1. The Janesville plant closed in 2008. Obama never “promised” to “save” it.
2. Lyin Ryan claims to be against govt. interference in markets, yet was one of the reps. with his hat out begging for govt. money to “save” Janesville
3. The Ryan budget takes substantially the same money from Meidcare as does Obamacare – but on the benefits side.
4. The Ryan was one of the Teabillies who refused to raise the debt ceiling – hence the credit downgrade in 2011.
5. The primary source of current federal debt is from the Bush era: tax cuts, wars, medicare part d, tarp, etc – which Ryan eagerly voted for.
