NY State Sen. Shirley Huntley (D) charged in cover up of scheme to steal $30,000 from nonprofit
Well, we all know how those Democrats love their non-profits … because they care!
A Queens state senator was charged Monday with trying to cover up a scheme to steal nearly $30,000 from a nonprofit, in what may be the first time a New York Attorney General’s office probe has directly led to state charges against a sitting state lawmaker.
The arrest of state Sen. Shirley Huntley, a Democrat, marks the latest scandal involving legislative earmarks known as “member items.” Monday’s charges were unusual because they weren’t announced by federal prosecutors, but by Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who said he knew of no criminal cases brought by his predecessors against a Capitol politician.
