“It could have been the scene out of one of his movies.”

Yes, it could have been, assuming it was called Doofus and Paddler, instead of Master and Commander. Oh well, all in good fun, I suppose.

Russell Crowe got some help from the U.S. Coast Guard late Saturday night during a kayaking trip gone wrong off of New York’s Long Island.

The actor, who is in the area filming the new Darren Aronofsky movie, Noah, launched from Cold Spring Harbor Saturday afternoon, U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer Robert Swieciki told the Associated Press. When it got dark, he and his friend apparently got lost but managed to make their way to shore, beaching their kayaks in Huntington Bay.

They were nearly 10 miles east from where they had set out.
