Amanda Todd’s mother, Carol Todd, doesn’t want other children to suffer as her daughter did — stalked and harassed by bullies in cyberspace and in the schoolyard, by people she knew and by stalkers many miles away.
Amanda told her story in the heart-wrenching video that chronicled her nightmare: the taunts, the beating, the cyber-stalker who tracked her down whenever she tried to start afresh at a new school — firing off images that captured her showing off her young body, flattered by online attention from someone she thought was a kid just like her.
Amanda killed herself this week, one month shy of her 16th birthday and one month after telling the world through a YouTube video of bullying that left her depressed and despairing.
Now Carol wants to tell her story. It is a story no mother wants to tell.“
Amanda was a very caring individual. She would help others who needed help,” Carol told The Vancouver Sun during an exclusive interview Friday at her home, where she was surrounded by friends and family. “One of Amanda’s goals was to get her message out there and have it used as a learning tool for others.”

My comment is: Where was the mother or parents of Amanda when she was going thru all this ordeal? Why didn’t the mom do something about it? Why didn’t the mom prevent this from being such a tragedy? I have 3 girls of my own & if this were to happen to any of them I would take up to the police & beyond.
There was no comment from the mom about what she did or tried to do to help her daughter. Amanda was changing schools, was on anti-depresants, and not being her normal self (apparently), SO shouldn’t of that been a RED Flag to her parents that there was something serious going on with Amanda?
My opinion exactly, who is she to say anything at this point…it is too late for her own daughter…is it because of all the media attention she is getting ? Is she really that ignorant? If she really cared about her daughter’s well being, Amanda would still be alive and getting through this like many of us have because we had a strong & present parent or parents or even simply a role model… How dare she play the role now.
My thoughts exactly. Very clearly, this poor girl was unstable and self destructive. She probably should have been hospitalized. Their daughter was the victim of a crime and exhibited very unstable behavior, but Dad was going to get matching tattoos with her.
Hmmm.

How dare all of you who blame the mother. How many things did you do as a kid that you didn’t tell your parents? How many things do they still not know about? You all are just as bad as the kids who tormented Amanda Todd. You are the reason these kids learn to bully this way as you bully and talk garbage about a mother who tragically lost her daughter. Shame on you.
NOTHING would have caused me to get nude in front of a stranger at the age of 12. I think it is evident this child was unstable from the get-go. I also would not have allowed my daughter on sites where people were tormenting her. And you can bet I would have aggressively gone after her stalker. There ARE ways to trace ISP addresses.
To believe this behavior came out of nowhere or was 100 percent attributed to peer bullying is naive, and there is nothing cruel about not going along with the sheeple a d admitting that.
Oh Cheyenne, What a PERFECT specimen of a human being you are! No one should judge…it’s a media-hyped story of a personal tragedy for this child and her family…we don’t know them at all! Lay off, and have some empathy!
