Disgusting: Democrats blame budget cuts for Benghazi security lapse
It’s repulsive that Democrats would attempt to play this weak card. There was money enough to make an appeasement commercial on the fly, misleadingly blaming an American film maker for the attack immediately afterward. One can also imagine the numbers of State dinners and travel jaunts that could be cut before putting American lives at risk as they did in Benghazi.
Democrats retort that no reasonable security presence could have defended the consulate against the dozens of heavily armed extremists.If there were cuts to security, Democrats add, they were the fault of congressional Republicans, who cut $300 million from State Department spending requests for embassy construction and security in the past two years.

In testimony Wednesday before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Charlene Lamb, a deputy assistant secretary of state for diplomatic security, was asked, “Was there any budget consideration and lack of budget which led you not to increase the number of people in the security force there?”
Lamb responded, “No, sir.”
