Jessica Ridgeway Search: Police Discover Un-Identified Body in Pattridge Park open space in Arvada
This is the part that really sucks in following crime news. I previously posted on the disappearance of Jessica Ridgeway, 10, of Colorado here. She left for school in the morning last Friday but never showed up. Police have been investigating since, ruling out the parents as suspects. More developments below. Sad stuff. What kind of sick bastards are out there?
Investigators would not confirm if the body was that of the missing elementary school student but numerous sources told ABC News that they believe it is Ridgeway.
An ABC report:
It could take time to make a positive identification of the body found in the Pattridge Park open space in Arvada, police said, and officials haven’t tied the crime scene to the missing girl.
“The Arvada Police Department and Westminster Police Department are working jointly with additional resources to process that crime scene,” Westminster, Colo., police investigator Trevor Materasso told reporters this evening. “At this time, were unable to make any connection to the disappearance of Jessica Ridgeway. That crime scene will exist through the evening and into tomorrow morning.” Via ABC News Blogs – Yahoo! News.
The Denver Post has more coverage.
Hundreds of investigators combed an area around a collapsed building near the Pattridge Park open space in Arvada on Wednesday night after a body was discovered, about 11 miles south of where 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway’s backpack was found.
It was already reported that the parents have been ruled out as suspects. There’s a police briefing in the morning.
Police investigators plan a Thursday morning news briefing, following the discovery of a body in a Denver suburb which may be that of 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway, missing since last Friday.

What kind of world do we live in where the first thing the police have to do is rule out the parents as suspects? And what kind of sick people steal children? Breaks my heart.
