Telegraph: Romney won by looking presidential. Obama had a painful case of Biden’s smile

I didn’t think it was THAT bad!

Romney won the third presidential debate – and how he did it was encapsulated in a single exchange. The candidates were discussing military spending and Romney had just accused Obama of making harmful cutbacks.

The President wheeled out what must have seemed like a great, pre-planned zinger: “I think Governor Romney maybe hasn’t spent enough time looking at how our military works. You mentioned the navy, for example, and that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well, governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets because the nature of our military’s changed.” The audience laughed, Obama laughed, I laughed. It was funny.

I remember thinking, was Obama saying that the only wars worth having the US fight those that don’t use ships, that keep the sea lanes open, but rather only employ strategic weapons (AKA nuclear devices).

After last night, anybody with any military background will hold Obama in even GREATER contempt…as he does them.

I add to Ragspierre’s comment that not only with active and inactive military hold Obama in further contempt, but many who simply view the military overall in a favorable way will see Obama as a more weak Commander than before. Although Obama made some good points, he didn’t demonstrate his leadership as much as he showed his goal was to simply portray Romney as a warmonger and out of touch. Since that didn’t work, we are left with memories of the petty effort.
