Most Americans Clueless As ObamaCare Rolls Out

By
November 21, 2012

This relates to something I said to BuzzFeed that didn’t make their article.

Millions will qualify for new options under the health care law. Most have no idea. Yes, they may gain some options but they will also lose many and no one has bothered to think about the cost. Given that the GOP messaging in 2012 ended up so far from getting the job done, could right-side new media have done some things along these lines that may have actually helped support a Romney win?

It’s a question I expect more mature and intelligent minds in right-side New Media will likely entertain over time. And any notion that we shouldn’t be asking such questions is pure silliness, or worse, self-serving.

Part of the problem, experts say, is that people who will be affected don’t realize the urgency because the subsidies won’t begin for another year. But policy decisions are being made now that will affect tens of millions of Americans, and the lack of public awareness could jeopardize a system that depends on having many people involved. Low enrollment could lead to higher premiums, health policy experts say. Hospitals worry that, without widespread participation, they will continue getting stuck with patients’ unpaid medical bills. And advocates say the major purpose of the Affordable Care Act – extending health insurance to more Americans – will go unmet if large numbers of vulnerable people don’t take advantage of it.

…. “but they will also lose many.”

    For instance?

    • jharp says:

I can’t think of even one.

And I now noticed dental must be covered for children now. And optical. Cool. Should make children a lot healthier and now some of them will actually get to see. Imagine that!

      Hooray for our President

      And hooray for ObamaCare

      • Ragspierre says:

        Yeah, but you can’t think.

ObamaCare has already cost tens of thousands of Americans their jobs.

It has only begun. It would kill a healthy economy, which we ain’t got.

We are headed away from rational reforms, and into catastrophic failure.

        • Patriot says:

“ObamaCare has already cost tens of thousands of Americans their jobs.”

          Prove it.

“It would kill a healthy economy” ….

          Prove it.

      • Patriot says:

They can’t think of one either. They can only make up imaginary doomsday scenarios that they bounce of each others’ pointy sculls in the fever swamp bubble. Liarspierre will eventually “cite” fact-free “proof” from some from a wingnut blog.

        • Ragspierre says:

          Watch and learn, dumb-phuc.

          http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2012/nov/21/letter-employers-using-loopholes-aca/?partner=popular

That whole cause >>> effect thingy is totally beyond you.

          • Patriot says:

Surprise! Another fact-free anecdotal diatribe, passed off as “proof” by the pretend lawyer. Your “proof” is a letter to the editor.

Did you learn the difference between cause-in-fact and intervening cause while you were reading about legal studies on wikipedia?

That some of your wingnutty, job-creating heroes are supposedly threatening to *choose* to put their workers into non full-time status, rather than charge 5 cents more for their shitty food, is “caused” by Obamacare. You’re a very silly little boy.

And how did this heroic tactic work for the wingnut Denny’s franchisee in Florida?

          • Ragspierre says:

“That some of your wingnutty, job-creating heroes are supposedly threatening to *choose* to put their workers into non full-time status…”

Nope. Typical “handwave” in place of recognizing facts.

OK. I expect no better. This is an across-the-board reaction to ObamaCare. It is hardly limited to people you call names, moron.

Remember this when you squeal for pwwwwoof in the future. I have nothing to prove to you, and any attempt at packing information into your crap filled skull would only risk an explosion of crap.

  2. Tom says:

The ACA is one very large crap sandwich.

  3. Patriot says:

“Nope. Typical “handwave” in place of recognizing facts.”

Haha, YOU HAVEN’T CITED ANY “FACTS” dip shit. Like always. You cited a letter to the editor as of “proof” of job losses and imminent economic destruction. The letter to the editor is proof of neither. It cites no facts. It is speculation, conjecture, and anecdote posing as evidence – which you evidently don’t comprehend.

    “OK. I expect no better.”

Clearly. You’re a wingnut who doesn’t know the difference between fact and opinion, or cause-in-fact and intervening cause. Yet you lie on the internet about being a lawyer.

“This is an across-the-board reaction to ObamaCare. It is hardly limited to people you call names, moron.”

oooooh wow, more fact-free speculation from a known liar.

“Remember this when you squeal for pwwwwoof in the future. I have nothing to prove to you, and any attempt at packing information into your crap filled skull would only risk an explosion of crap.”

Shorter: you can’t prove any of the wingnut bubble screeds Fox News tells you every day. You just “believe” them because you hate Barack Obama.

    • Ragspierre says:

“In fact, major names in the service/hospitality industry (e.g., Denny’s, Olive Garden, Red Lobster and Longhorn Steakhouse) are already in the process of going to a part-time employee schedule for all employees.”

Fact or fiction, you poor, stupid, lying Collectivist moron?

  4. Ragspierre says:

    http://riehlworldview.com/2012/11/obamacare-already-costing-jobs.html

    I never lie.

PLUS, as we know, medical device makers and others are already going off-shore.

See, in a world where businesses compete, they don’t just get to “charge $.05″ for anything they offer consumers.

You poor, stupid, hate-twisted Collectivist troll.

    • Patriot says:

Hey, ANOTHER blog citing another blog that doesn’t cite any primary material. You’re on quite the anecdote-posing-as-evidence roll, loser.

“PLUS, as we know, medical device makers and others are already going off-shore.”

No. You heard this anecdotally in the wingnut bubble, and “believe” it because you think it reflects poorly on Obamacare. Rinse, wash, repeat.

“See, in a world where businesses compete, they don’t just get to “charge $.05″ for anything they offer consumers.”

That’s funny. Papa Johns and the wingnut Denny’s franchisee in FL were telling the same lie about Obamacare. It’s always cute when fraudulent shut-ins like you lecture about “the real world”.

It’s also funny that you suddenly pretend to give a shit about off-shoring.

      • Ragspierre says:

This article from the November 19, 2012 Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that part-time employees of the Community College of Allegheny County are being cut back to less than 30 hours per week. The reason is simple: employees who work 30 or more hours per week must be provided health insurance because of Obamacare — and the college cannot afford to do this. So it is cutting employee hours to a level where the college is not required to provide health insurance….

        Liar.

Fact or fiction, you lying SOS?

What “lie” is anyone telling? Why is the Denny’s franchisee a “wing-nut” for his stand? Why are you calling people who provide employment for willing employees “heros” in scare quotes?

Are you really so stupid as to have EVER believed what Obama promised, or Reid and Pelosi crammed down our throats in a tour de main of terrible drafting? Yes, I know…

And how many times the original promised costs are we up to now?

You poor, stupid, lying, hate-twisted Collectivist POS.

      • Ragspierre says:

“It’s also funny that you suddenly pretend to give a shit about off-shoring.”

Oh, I totally support any business person doing what market economics suggest they should do.

I also support idiots facing the consequences of their idiocy, especially when they’ve been warned against BEING idiots by people who understand cause >>> effect relationships.

        Idiot.

  5. Ragspierre says:

The Chicago Fed National Activity Index fell into negative territory, coming in at –0.56 on October. The 3-month moving average also fell to –0.56.

The Dallas Fed Manufacturing Survey fell sharply in November, falling to –2.8 from 1.8 last month.
