As for your idea to take vets and simply swear them in, that’s not really the same as having trained officers. No being trained to hold a gun is not the same as actual training in how to police a civilian population. Our military is extremely bad at policing, not to mention the horrible stats on post service suicide and murder rates. But naturally these are the people you want to arm and have around children.
