WA State sues florist over refusing service for gay wedding on religious grounds

What religious liberty?

The state attorney general has filed a lawsuit in Benton County Superior Court against a Richland florist who refused to provide flowers for the wedding of longtime gay customers, citing her religious opposition to same-sex marriage.

The state’s suit against Barronelle Stutzman, owner of Arlene’s Flowers and Gifts, came just days after the Attorney General’s Office wrote to ask that Stutzman reconsider her position and agree to comply with the state’s anti-discrimination laws.

if this florist does not want to sell flowers, maybe he should find another line of work.
when you are running a public accomodation business, you operate under that state’s laws. imagine what chaos there would be if we allowed every single business to claim “religious beliefs” for denying service to one group of citizens or another. could a lunch counter owner not serve blacks because his interpretation of the bible says that races should not mix ? washington state says no discrimination is allowed in regards to, among other classes, sexual orientation. regrdless of the florist’s personal ‘beliefs’, if he wants to operate a business in washington state, he cannot discriminate. simple as that.

What a fine lil’ totalitarian thug you are.

Read…if you can read…the First Amendment.

“imagine what chaos there would be if we allowed every single business to claim “’religious beliefs’”

OK, imagine that “chaos”. It is called a pluralistic…as opposed to dictatorial…society. MARKETS would provide very nicely in that “chaos”, moron.

“when you are running a public accomodation business…”

A florist is NOT a “public accommodation” for interstate commerce analysis, dummy.

el polacko, you supremely ignorant and uneducated fool, the BIBLE does not say that races should not mix. Show me where the BIBLE says that before you post an ignorant and completely false post.

Private business. Private property. Everyone else get over it.

During the campaign to get gay “marriage” through, they pledged that people’s religious values would be respected. It went into place Jan. 1, so they made it 4 months before going back on their word.
