They’ll be writing and talking about this house of horrors for some time to come. I hope to God the captives get the care they need. One can’t imagine the head trip this has to all be.
‘The real hero is Amanda': Cleveland police praise kidnapping victim for escaping her captors to save two other missing women and the daughter she fell pregnant with while held against her will
Cleveland police have praised kidnapping victim Amanda Berry for escaping the home of her captor and alerting authorities to the two other missing women being held against their will inside.
‘The real hero here is Amanda,’ Cleveland Deputy Police Chief Ed Tomba said at a press conference on Tuesday morning. ‘She came out of that house and that started it all.’
Berry, who went missing a day before her 17th birthday in 2003, climbed through a screen door on Monday afternoon while her alleged captor was out and fled to a neighbor’s home to call 911.
