Rand Paul Wants Apology For Witch-hunt As Levin And McCain Target Apple Cheered on By India

May 21, 2013

This is, in some ways, an international issue and as usual McCain is moving in lock-step with Leftists – see Cheered On By India, Levin And McCain Will Grill Apple’s Cook – Forbes.

Indeed, the Paris-based Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, which sets guidelines on international tax for its 34 member countries, is now considering sweeping changes to rules on international tax and transfer pricing that could potentially substantially increase the tax liabilities of multinational companies, according to a person familiar with the discussion.

There is “a perception that the domestic and international rules on the taxation of cross border profits are now broken and that taxes are only paid by the naïve,” the OECD said in a report in February. “Multinational enterprises are being accused of dodging taxes worldwide, and in particular in developing countries, where tax revenue is critical to foster long term development.”

rand paulMeanwhile, accusing them of “harassing” Apple, Senator Rand Paul takes to the pages of Rare to offer a uniquely, um, American rebuttal on behalf of the free market and a simplified tax system. All this IRS madness may just help set the stage for that – one can hope, anyway.

Apple’s job creating machine extends across the United States. The iPhone uses Gorilla Glass, which is manufactured in Kentucky by Corning. Today, Corning—and Kentucky—benefit from nearly $700 million in sales, employing more than 300 people thanks to Apple. Rather than berating Apple, we should celebrate the jobs Apple continues to create.

I think the federal government owes an apology to Apple. Instead of Apple, Congress should be on trial for having the crummiest tax code imaginable; for having a byzantine tax code that runs into the tens of thousands of pages; for creating a tax code that simply doesn’t compete with the rest of the world.

Paul is, of course, totally correct.

No member of Congress hesitates to minimize their tax liability according to the law.

The “corporate tax” is merely a stealth tax on consumers, and it serves to make US business LESS competitive, while ALSO being totally regressive (which is a BAD thing, according to the Collective).

Why haven’t they summoned GE, btw?

WHAT Levin didn’t enough or any $$$ from APPLE, to his PAC ?

These hearings are EXTORTION, plain and simple, from the Democrat-Socialist members of this, socalled, “Committee”.

But what is equally interesting, the APPLE “Lib’s” have to sit there, and just TAKE this “dog and pony show” and like it !

    There is some poetic “justice”.
