Freedom Works Piles On McConnell

By
December 2, 2013

When one of Mitch McConnell’s boys at the NRSC picked a fight with the conservative base, I said at the time it could be the beginning of the end for McConnell: Did the NRSC’s Josh Holmes Just Cost Mitch McConnell His Primary? Instead of starting a debate he may well have won, he initiated a political war he simply didn’t need, while talking down to the GOP base.

That – and then a conference call – invoked the wrath of activists from Tea Party Patriots and Tea Party Express. Now, Freedom Works is calling out McConnell by name in a messaging campaign. Given McConnell’s dismal numbers in Kentucky, these are fights he doesn’t need and can’t afford. His young guns sure do have a knack for shooting themselves in the foot and their boss in the back.

Mitch McConnell said he wants to punch Senate Conservatives Fund in the nose. And remember when Orrin Hatch said he wanted to punch FreedomWorks in the mouth?

Big Government Republicans like Mitch McConnell need to spend less time attacking conservatives and more time attacking Obama’s Progressive agenda.

Time to retire Mr. McConnell. We’ll take it from here.

  2. CourtneyAmanda says:

McConnell is outdated and completely out of touch. Time. To. GO!

    • reidh beallagh says:

He always was and always has been completely out of touch. It was the GOP base that was ignorant of this.

  3. Charles Weaver says:

Mr. McConnell suffers from what most long time people in Congress do. It’s about them and what they think not what is good for the common people. There should be term limits on all public office holders then maybe the attitudes would change.

  4. LHS says:

We have had enough. The RINO hunt has begun. Until they’re either out or in their real party, the DNC. Term
limits are next. The lying and thieving will stop.

    • MAC says:

Encourage your state legislatures to request a Constitutional convention so that we can get congressional term limits added as an amendment.

  5. Thomas Shuster says:

Time to go home Mitch! Maybe you and former Utah Senator Robert Bennett can start a shuffleboard league. Get it organized for other RINOs who will get tossed!

  6. Greg Cripps says:

Perhaps this is one of the Republicans Nancy Pelosi spoke of when she mentioned her appreciation for the way things were…..you know when it didn’t matter if it was a Democrat or Republican because they wanted the same thing.

  7. Mary says:

McConnell is just showing his colors. He has been doing this all of his career the difference is we are just paying attention. He trashed Jim Bunning (fiscal Conservative) but we got Rand Paul which was worse for McConnell. Ky will have a Jr. Senator this election. we are SOM. Sick of Mitch and his crony politics.

  8. Jeffrey Hoffman says:

To willing abandon the American citizenry, especially those who intrusted you enough to protect their well-being is despicable. We hired you,we now need to fire you. The very fabric of the American way of life is at stake, and all you want to do is attack your own party members who are fighting the good fight, how deplorable can you be. It’s not about you it’s about the American people period.

  9. Thomas Joseph says:

RINO – Republican in Name Only; see mitch mcconnell

If Conservatives don’t effectively band together, there will be nothing, NOTHING to save us from the ignorant, misguided socialists. Our country is in real trouble over the long term, and lukewarm democrats running as Republicans will not defend our nation from fiscal ruin.

  10. TRON SIMPSON says:

KY conservatives will do some house cleaning–SENTATE house cleaning I do believe. We’re doin it Colorado and if we can, so can Kentucky. Show Mitch the door.

  11. Marsha says:

They all need to be taken out of Washington. Who do they think they are that they feel so far above We The People who put them there in the first place? We win’t be asking these mistakes again. Hope they are looking forward to retirement.

  12. BeccaJRN says:

They just need to get the hell out of the way and let us reclaim our America…out with the Old Guard and in with the Constitution!

  13. Not Small says:

Mitch and Orin, abstruse at best.

  14. Bean Davidson says:

Jefferson, Lincoln, Paine, Douglas, Franklin and Washington would kick Mitch McConnell in his arse!

  15. Bob Mount says:

The problem with Mitch and a goodly part of the rest of the Senate is that they hide in the weeds until the cameras come out. After the cameras are gone they go back to the weeds to hide. They have to hide because if they didn’t they’d actually have to do something.

  16. jerry says:

Goodbye Mitch you won’t be missed . Also any of the other foolish Rinos can’t wait for McCain’s turn . I wouldn’t be suprized if he didn’t run when he sees the #s…. though his ego might get the best of him.

  17. PC says:

Isn’t the RINO wing of the Republican Party really the LOSER wing of the Republican Party? This crowd couldn’t win an election if their lives depended on it. Who likes to hang out with losers? Let’s primary them out, change their diapers, and tuck them in bed in an extended-care facility funded by ObamaCare.
